macOS menu-bar app · for live production

Your work, saved. Without you remembering.

ShowSave quietly presses Save in the apps you choose, on a short repeating timer, while you work. No keystroke to remember. No habit to build. Just your latest work on disk — ready the moment an app crashes.

macOS 13+ · for anyone running live-show software on a Mac · one-time license

THE PROBLEM

The save you meant to do.

You build a cue. You tweak a session. You fix the show document — and you mean to hit Save, but the next thing is already happening. Then the app crashes, or freezes, or quits without warning, and the last ten minutes are gone. Not because you forgot — because remembering to save, every few minutes, for hours, while you run a show, was never a reasonable thing to ask of anyone.

WHAT SHOWSAVE DOES

It presses Save, so you don’t have to.

ShowSave lives in the menu bar. Give it a short list of apps — your cue software, your DAW, your show document — and it sends Save on a repeating timer while you work in each one. It presses the same keystroke you would: ⌘S, or a custom one you set per app. It doesn’t reach inside the app or use private hooks, so it works with almost anything that saves on a keystroke. And it only fires when you’re actually in a document — so a stray ⌘S never lands in a dialog or a save panel.

HOW IT WORKS

Quiet, careful, and honest.

01

Saves on a timer

Every few seconds, in the apps you pick — the default is every 3 seconds. Your latest work is always on disk.

02

Only in your document

It checks you’re in a real document window before it fires. In a dialog or save panel, it holds off — ⌘S never lands in the wrong place.

03

Just a keystroke

It sends ⌘S exactly as if you typed it — no internal hooks, no reading your files. Works with almost anything that saves on a key.

04

Silent, always

There are no audio paths in ShowSave at all. It never beeps, never chimes — nothing through the PA, ever.

05

Honest status

The menu-bar icon tells you the truth: protecting, saving, paused, or unable to help. If Accessibility gets revoked mid-show, it goes red rather than pretend it’s still saving.

06

Per-app control

Each app gets its own interval, its own save command, its own pause switch. Set it once and forget it.

ShowSave changes nothing on your Mac permanently, and never needs the network at show time.

HONEST STATUS

It tells you when it can’t help.

ShowSave shows you the truth about what it’s doing. “Last saved 10:57:32” is when it sent the Save. If Accessibility is off, the icon turns red and says so plainly, rather than showing green over nothing. An honest “can’t protect this” beats a false sense of safety every time.

QUIET BY DESIGN

It stays out of your way.

ShowSave never reaches into your app, never opens your files, never makes a sound. It only saves when you’re truly in a document, so it won’t fire into a menu or a panel. And it won’t let you quit by accident mid-show — if it’s actively protecting apps, it asks first. Set it running and forget it’s there. That’s the point.

WHO USES SHOWSAVE

Built for whoever runs the show.

Whatever software runs your show, ShowSave keeps its work on disk.

Live Sound Engineers

Your session took all day to build. ShowSave keeps it saved.

Video Operators

A frozen app shouldn’t cost you the cue list. It won’t.

AV Technicians

The show document, saved every few seconds — without a thought.

Broadcast Engineers

You don’t get a second take. Neither does your last save.

WHY SHOWSAVE

Built to be impossible to trip over.

Purpose-built for live-show work — not a macro you rigged or a habit you’re hoping holds. ShowSave does one job: pressing Save in the apps you choose, quietly, on a timer, only while you’re in them. Honest about what it’s protecting. Silent at the worst moment. One job, done under pressure.
